The Quilter's Homecoming

The Quilter's Homecoming

Jennifer Chiaverini

Newly wed in a festive yet poignant ceremony at Elm Creek Manor, bride Elizabeth Nelson takes leave of her ancestral Pennsylvania home. Setting off with her husband, Henry, on the adventure of a lifetime, Elizabeth packs the couple's trunk with more than the wedding quilts she envisions them dreaming beneath every night of their married lives. They are landowners who hold the deed to Triumph Ranch, 120 acres of prime California soil located in the Arboles Valley, north of Los Angeles. "Triumph R

Hi Jennifer, I belong to a woman's sorority on-line. I am the now chairperson of our on-line Book Club. The first book I have chosen to begin our venture is your book "The New Year's Quilt". I myself am not a quilter but began reading your books through my daughter, who is a teacher and like myself reads for enjoyment and relaxation.
Your books have given me so much warmth and feelings of caring for those we love, and who touch our lives. You have a way of capturing in words how much families and friends mean in our everyday lives. When I finish reading your books, I feel wonderful inside and there is a warmth that I cannot explain.
I have just finished your newest book "The Quilter Kitchen". It was just wonderful! The recipes are going to be fabulous to try. It brought back memories of my grandmother's wonderful Apple Pie and family gatherings in my grandmothers kitchen.
Thank you so much for bringing these books into my life

Hi Jennifer, I love this video. Hearing your voice made my day. Now I can see your photo and imagine what you are saying. Your voice matches your stories; so soft, tender, thoughtful; I don't know, somehow old-fashion. I love it. I am looking forward to your new book. It's time for me to start re-reading all of them again. I wish there was a real Elm Creek Quilt Camp. Maybe...you could start one in Wisconsin after you have finished your story line. Thanks for everything Jennifer. Posted by: Jane Klocker | March 25, 2008, 1:49 pm

I live in the UK and have been a quilter for several years first inspired by a holiday visiting a relative in Canada in 1981. I have since made 4 quilts for family and have 3 work in progresses and many more planned in my head. What with full time work and now 2 grown up sons at home/uni also studies connected with my work over the years I have had very little time left for my sewing which I love. My wonderful sister bought me the first Elm Creek book which I really loved and so she bought me the rest so far for Christmas and my birthday 2007 - I am part way through book 5 - The Quilter's Legacy. I read in bed every morning for 1/2 hour and have terrible trouble putting it down so I am not late for work!!!! There is only one small quilter's group locally and they meet when I am at work, so my quilting community is in your wonderful books and here. I should try and set up my own group in the evenings maybe one day!!! In the meantime thank you for the wonderful stories and shared love of quilting. PS. I also sew cross-stitch samplers based on historical ones as does my sister, sister-in law and so did my lovely mum. Unfortunately they are not quilters too. I really enjoy your stories related to quilting. I love to read and your books have been a nice addition to enhance my long involment with quilting. I belong to the Genesee Valley Quilt Club in Rochester, NY which has over 300 members. Would you ever consider doing a program for our club? We will soon celebrate 75 years as a club and are planning many special event; our next show will be in 2009 and they get bigger every time & are planned every two years. I received the first three books of the Elm Creek Quilters series and have read the first two, almost none stop. I don't consider myself a 'quilter' as I have made only two quilts, a reversable one for a grand-son some 16 years ago and a single bed quilt for a grand-daughter some 10 years ago while taking a class. I do have a few UFO's in my sewing room. I enjoyed your books so much that I think I may try to work some quilting into the new year. Thank you so much for giving the pleasure of reading your books. Jennifer, You're books are so real. Being a quilter myself, they make me want to go to a quilt camp and actually find the Elm Creek Manor. I keep having to remind myself that these books are in fact fiction. I know they were written with some knowledge of historical facts on quilting, but I want them to be real so I can visit Elm Creek Manor and go to their quilt camp. Sylvia, Sarah and all the rest seem a part of my family. I love your books. Please, please keep them coming. Posted by: Laura Ross | August 20, 2007, 8:49 am
